When an idea just doesn’t leave you alone, you have to give it legs, and see what kind of life it takes on. This is how I came to write my first manuscript for a grown up novel. Conversations with friends and sisters about the crazy events that happen in life were frequently turning into, “This should be a book,” comments. The idea stuck, and grew until it took over my brain and spilled out on paper. I wasn’t sure if my picture book writing skills would transfer to an adult novel, but I was willing to fail in the attempt at writing a book for grown ups.
